The Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine honors the life and legacy of Blessed Stanley Rother, the first U.S.-born priest and martyr to be beatified by the Catholic Church. He served as a missionary in Santiago Atitlán, Guatemala, where he was martyred in 1981. The shrine, dedicated in 2023, serves as a pilgrimage destination and a place of devotion.
The 6,000-square-foot Pilgrim Center includes a museum with artifacts detailing Rother's life, mission, and martyrdom, as well as a gift shop. The Shrine Church and Chapel, designed in Roman Baroque and Spanish Mission styles, features over 2,000 seats and houses Rother's final resting place. Visitors can also climb Tepeyac Hill, a replica of the site of the Lady of Guadalupe's appearance in Mexico.
This shrine stands as a beacon of faith, welcoming pilgrims from around the world to learn about Rother's mission and sacrifice. It also serves the growing Hispanic community in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City.
